The launch of the PushEmail service reflects the growing popularity of sports websites that provide breaking stories as they happen. The launch also coincides with last week’s news that Match of the Day magazine is to cease publication due to declining circulation figures, together with the release of latest statistics which indicate sales of print-based football publications as a whole are at an all-time low.

Fans of TEAMtalk can now get all the latest news on their favourite team delivered directly to their personal email account via the PushEmail service.

Ian Holding, Sports Director of TEAMtalk, commented: ‘Through technological advances, people now have access to immediate information through a variety of communication channels, such as email, SMS, interactive TV and the Internet. It is hard for a monthly print publication to keep fresh and up-to-date when websites such as TEAMtalk are able to provide football fans with up-to-the minute news and services. For example, through our 90 in-house reporters and network of 270 freelancers worldwide, we write over 4,000 stories a week on football alone and attract two million users monthly. Compare this to a magazine that has a three month lead time prior to publication, TEAMtalk would have put together 36,000 web stories by the time it hit the shelves.’

Holding continued: ‘Our PushEmail is indicative of this trend. Now, fans needn’t worry about missing the latest transfer gossip, managerial changes or fans revolt – the information will come directly to their designated email address as and when it happens.’

TEAMtalk’s Free PushEmail service will enable people to receive information via email about their favorite teams. Users can select two UK teams (from 134) and two world teams (from 54 countries) and will receive the latest top daily story on each. TEAMtalk expects to deliver thousands of stories every week via this service.
