Superscape VR Plc, the UK-based interactive 3D company, is about to launch a major e-business initiative designed to transform the fortunes of a company whose financial results have never received as many plaudits as its software.

Kevin Roberts, a US executive with 29 years experience in the software industry, is taking over as CEO, only three months after becoming CEO of Superscape Inc, the company’s California-based subsidiary. He immediately signaled a departure from past policies and said Superscape planned to unveil a series of major new initiatives. Those close to the company expect it to focus on using its 3D software to enhance web sites.

Superscape has a dismal financial record and in the first half of the current year recorded net losses of 117,000 pounds ($185,000) down from losses of 839,000 pounds ($1.4m) on revenue that fell 17.3% to 2.1m pounds ($3.3m). Yet its software is highly regarded and earlier this year it linked up with Intel Corp, using its Viscape SVR 3D browser to demonstrate the capabilities of the Pentium III processor.
