Ing C Olivetti SpA has launched a new range of laser printers, the PG400, comprising three models: the PG404 is aimed at personal users, the PG408 at workgroups and the PG417 at departmental networks; the controller used in the PG404 and PG408 models is equipped with a 32bit 25MHz microprocessor that provides data transfer rates of up to 100Kb and 200Kb per second respectively; the 404 and 408’s also include an economy mode, which reduces resolution from 300 by 300 to 300 by 150 to reduce toner use by 50%, and a macro facility enables forms, fonts and logos to be stored and then downloaded from an external card; the PG417 prints 17 pages per minute and can be directly connected to networks via optional Token Ring or Ethernet interfaces; the PG400 family is available now through the Olivetti Direct sales line as well as through the company’s accredited third-party network; the PG404 costs UKP700, the PG408 UKP1,000 and the PG417’s estimated price is UKP2,000 to be finalised on Monday.
