NEW POCKET ADAPTOR FOR CONNECTING NOTEBOOKS TO 16/4Mbps TOKEN RING

By CBR Staff Writer

Danish company Olicom A/S has announced a new Pocket Adaptor to connect notebook personal computers to 16/4Mbps Token Ring networks through the parallel printer port. The company claims that the product is unique in that it offers both shielded and unshielded twisted pair support. It runs on uni-directional, bi-directional and Enhanced Printer Port protocols. The printer port protocol need not be configured, as the Pocket Adaptor automatically selects the fastest possible printer protocol available for the notebook, says the company. The Adaptor is provided with an external power supply and is available in four versions: US, UK, Australian and European, priced at $400 for each version.
