Redwood City, California-based Network Equipment Technologies Inc has launched version 12.x2 of the software for its IDNX family of Communications Resource Managers, which is said to include a new Automatic Trunk Back-up facility and support for two new IDNX modules, the E3 Trunk Module and the Echox Echo Canceller module. Designed for use with the company’s high-end IDNX/90, the new E3 Trunk Module, running at 34Mbps, is said to support up to 1,880 circuits and is being pitched at organisations wanting to access E3 carrier services for voice and data. The Echox module is compatible with all IDNX models, says the company, and provides internal echo cancellation, said to be particularly important when the IDNX is used in conjunction with PABX tandem networks; it is said to cancel up to 96mS of echo for up to 32 IDNX voice circuits. Finally, the new Automatic Trunk Back-up feature is said to signal an access device or terminal adaptor to establish a switched connection over ISDN in the event of leased line failure. The connection is automatically dropped when the leased line returns to service. The new software is to cost from $2,000 to $4,000 depending on the IDNX model used, with existing customers qualifying for a free upgrade. The E3 Trunk Module costs $16,000 or $32,000 with a redundancy feature, while Echox has a list price of $6,000. All the new products are now available.
