According to the company, the Health Buddy system can be used with machines that measure blood pressure, blood glucose, respiratory functions and weight. It coaches patients about their health and monitors them at home, then sends this information to healthcare providers over the web.
The appliance consists of a large color screen, a microprocessor and large buttons, and includes ports that connect to multiple medical devices. Patients interact with the Health Buddy by pressing a button or plugging medical devices into the appliance. Health providers, once they receive the information, can assess the patient’s condition and intervene if necessary.
