NEW BATCH OF INTEL CLONE MAKERS ARE ON THE WAY

By CBR Staff Writer

A new batch of companies developing Intel Corp processor clones are emerging, hears the Wall Street Journal. Metaflow Technologies Inc, a privately held company in La Jolla, California established in 1985 to design a superscaler microprocessor, is one of those named. Development vice president Bruce Lightner refused to confirm the story, but did say the company, which had a long term equity partnership with Hyundai Electronic America Inc up until last year, is now receiving funding from an unknown company. Other firms named by the Journal include El Segundo, California Meta Systems Inc, Transmeta Corp of Santa Clara, California and four-year-old Rise Technology Co, developer of high performance central processing units, based in San Jose, California.
