Qualcomm has revealed its latest Snapdragon processors, which could see smartphones featuring incredible camera capabilities and super-fast Internet connections.
Due to start appearing in mobile and tablet devices by early 2015, Qualcomm says that the new chipsets will deliver "the ultimate connected mobile computing experiences in video, imaging and graphics" on what it calls its "highest performing platform to date".
The new chipsets will include support for Cat 6 LTE networks, enabling mobile download speeds of up to 300MB/s. They are both designed in 20nm technology node with 64-bit capability.
The Snapdragon 810 will be the more powerful of the two chipsets, offering support for 4K Ultra HD video capable of producing high quality 4K video at 30 frames per second and 1080p video at 120 frames per second. It also includes support for image sensors up to 55-megapixels, and allows connection to external 4K displays via HDMI 1.4.
Its quad-core ARM Cortex-A57 CPUs and Cortex-A53 CPUs will offer superfast processing performance, and will be supported by high speed LPDDR4 memory.
The 808 is slightly less powerful than its sibling, featuring two ARM Cortex-A57 cores paired with a quad Cortex-A53 CPU. It includes an Adreno 418 GPU, LPDDR3 memory, improved Wi-Fi connectivity, and a raft of battery management improvements.

"These product announcements, in combination with the continued development of our next-generation custom 64-bit CPU, will ensure we have a tremendous foundation on which to innovate as we continue to push the boundaries of mobile computing performance in the years to come."
Qualcomm currently supplies the chipsets which power many of the world’s Android and Windows Phone devices, including the Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One M8, and Sony Xperia Z2. The company only announced the quad-core Snapdragon 805 chipset, capable of running at 2.5GHz, in November 2013, which is due to feature in new devices later this summer.
