HP and Microsoft have unveiled four new converged application appliances that fuse applications, infrastructure and productivity tools into a single system.

The new appliances systems are intended to deliver services such as business intelligence, data warehousing, online transaction processing and messaging.

While the HP Business Decision Appliance is available now, the HP E5000 Messaging System for Microsoft Exchange Server will be available in 45 days, said HP. Two other appliances are expected to be available later this year.

HP Industry Standard Servers and Software senior vice president and general manager Mark Potter said the offerings would enable customers to shorten the time required to deliver information.

Microsoft senior vice president Business Platform Division, Server and Tools Business, Ted Kummert said the products would save time and reduce complexity for professionals.

The HP Business Decision Appliance is available for less than €24,420 (ERP). The HP Enterprise Data Warehouse Appliance is priced at less than €1.8m. And the HP E5000 Messaging System is expected to be available at €27,000.

The new appliances systems are designed for IT as well as end users.
