Although the father of the Transputer, Iann Barron always stresses in particular the potential benefits of the ingenious Inmos International microprocessor in the field of machine intelligence, there has so far been little to show for that side of the chip’s capability. All that could change in August, however, when a Cambridge, Massachusetts start-up company, Neuronics Inc, is due to bring out a new release of its high-performance simulator for neural networks. The initial release of the program is written for the Apple Macintosh – and costs only $250, but the new release is designed to provide support for Transputer boards.
