The agreement is expected to enable Orbcomm to offer blended plans that incorporate both cellular and satellite wireless services at one low price. The combined rate plans will be marketed by Orbcomm and its partners to address a diverse range of applications that require better coverage and high-data rate capability.
Marc Eisenberg, CEO of Orbcomm, said: The addition of terrestrial wireless services in the Canadian market will enable us to combine our satellite capabilities with GSM to create a very compelling combination of coverage, performance and price.
Several of Orbcomm’s resellers and end-users are currently utilizing dual mode products in the US and other areas. We expect that several of these will be introduced to the Canadian market as we roll out services there.
