Jaguar and Shell have launched a new app for in-car fuel payments.
The app will allow drivers of Jaguar cars to pay for their fuel at Shell petrol stations using either Paypal or Apple Pay, eliminating the need for cash or cards when buying fuel.
The app is available for use in Jaguar XE, XF, and F-Pace models and several Land Rover models from the car’s dashboard. Customers will be able to pre-select how much fuel they wish to purchase, pay for it, and then send a receipt by email in order to keep a record.
Jaguar Director of Connected Car and Future Technology, Peter Virk, said: “In a world where cash is no longer king, customers are increasingly using electronic payments and contactless cards. Making a payment directly from a car’s touchscreen will make refuelling quicker and easier.”
“With this new system you can choose any pump on the forecourt and pay for the fuel even if you’ve forgotten your wallet or can’t find your credit or debit card.”
Not only does the app create faster transactions for customers, it also records information of the journey for those travelling in company cars, allowing employees and business to complete reimbursement transactions more accurately.
Jaguar also noted the devices ability to increase safety, saying that adults would no longer have to wake sleeping children or leave them unattended to pay for their fuel.

The service is available in the UK as of today with plans to introduce it to the rest of the world, and include Android Pay, over the course of 2017.
