NEC to make strategic investment in Kineto Wireless

NEC Corporation, a Japan-based provider of 3G infrastructure, handsets, internet, broadband network and enterprise business solutions, has announced that it will contribute in strategic funding to US-based Kineto Wireless.

Tadatoshi Fujiwara, general manager of mobile network solutions division at NEC, said: Kineto’s FMC solutions are currently enabling mobile operators around the world to deliver a variety of new revenue generating FMC services, including dual-mode handsets, femtocells, terminal adaptors, softmobile clients and more. We are very excited about this strategic investment, which facilitates NEC’s aim for the leading global femtocell position.

Rick Gilbert, president and CEO of Kineto Wireless, said: Continued strong growth in UMA-based dual-mode handset and terminal adaptor deployments, combined with tremendous operator interest in femtocells, highlight the FMC imperative for mobile operators globally.
