Juniper to optimise Puma’s network infrastructure

German sport-lifestyle company Puma has selected Juniper Networks’ application acceleration and network protection technologies to optimise the performance and security of its global network infrastructure.

According to Juniper Networks, its WXC application acceleration platform has been deployed to accelerate the performance of key applications across the network, and the Juniper Networks Secure Services Gateway with UTM, Secure Access SSL VPN and Juniper Networks Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDP) platforms creates a layered defence against vulnerabilities for LAN/WAN-based and remote users.

The Juniper Networks WXC platform is used by Puma to improve WAN performance of numerous applications, including CIFS, Lotus Notes and Web Applications.

Kurt Walther, global IT director at Puma, said: Juniper’s WXC has enabled us to accelerate the performance of key applications by up to eight times. By performing 80% compression, the WXC also helps us to better use and provision the existing bandwidth, while the security deployment helps to ensure data security within and between our sites without compromising network performance.
