INX, a provider of communications and data centre virtualisation, has been selected by the Clovis Municipal School District (CMSD) to upgrade its existing network and communication infrastructure.

INX has been awarded a technology upgrade contract for the Clovis. CMSD will undergo a network upgrade leveraging Cisco networking and wireless technology and enabling video communication using Tandberg video conferencing equipment.

By utilising the video communications, CMSD will enable distance learning in hopes of reducing costs and increasing efficiencies and effectiveness in the classroom. Once fully operational, the video technology will allow Clovis to reduce costs and increase the sharing of resources across the entire district by way of virtual classrooms and virtual field trips.

Other advantages of video that drove the decision to implement the technology included reduced training and travel costs. By allowing staff to use video technology to attend training or by holding administrative meetings virtually, CMSD can experience the benefits of collaboration without having to incur the expense of travel, according to INX.

Andy Cadwell, vice president of sales for INX, said: The education sector continues to be a strong market for INX in both K-12 as well as higher education. We are pleased to be part of a project that will use technology to further education efforts at the CMSD.
