EE and Cisco bring “five-bar” connectivity to businesses

Small cells coordinate to increase indoor coverage.

By Alexander Sword

EE will deploy Cisco’s small cells for its enterprise customers, it has been announced.

Businesses will be able to receive high mobile connectivity using stand-alone access points and a small cell solution.

The cells automatically coordinate to provide coverage throughout the entire building. It is claimed that the small cells will be relatively easy to install compared to traditional in-building systems.

The move taps into growth in the mobile data traffic market, with much of the usage coming from indoor mobile users.

"We have constantly sought to take innovative approaches to providing the best mobile network with the best coverage and the best experience, and that has been a major factor in driving our success with UK businesses," said Rakesh Murria, Product Director at EE.

He added: "Cisco has a high-quality small cell solution that works with all sizes and shapes of enterprise buildings, and its leadership in networking makes it an ideal partner for our continued growth in this market."

Scott Morrison, vice president and general manager of Cisco’s small cell business, commented: "We’re delighted to be working with EE on the new wave of enterprise small cell deployments.
