An apparent Foxconn insider has revealed details regarding several upcoming Apple products on the iPhone makers subreddit over the weekend.
Although the information released cannot be confirmed as legitimate, the thread is detailed with a sneak peak of the product announcements Apple has lined up.
The announcements made include details of the long awaited Augmented Reality glasses that were previously rumoured, following Apple CEO Tim Cook’s announcement that the company has invested in Augmented Reality.
According to Foxconn insider, the new Apple project is named Project Mirrorshades and is designed with the expectation to deliver AR to a wide audience.
The glasses are expected to include Kopin technology such as an NED Acetate frame that will be mounting polarised or prescription lens with Zeiss smart optics with audio that will allegedly be provided by bone conduction and noise cancellation modules.
Apple’s smart glasses will come in three colours; crystal, champagne and black and it will be available in different sizes that will be suitable for both men and women.
However, the Foxconn insider has revealed that the Apple smart glasses may be delayed and also claimed that they could be cancelled but when asked regarding how likely it is for this to happen, the insider responded:
“65%. Very unique design, if it can be done properly will be like what the iPhone did 10 years ago.”
Secondly, is information regarding Apple’s iPhone 8, which according to the Foxconn insider is named ‘iPhone X’ and that this product is also delayed.
It was revealed that all the former leaks and information regarding the long awaited iPhone 8 are inaccurate, but confirmed that it will feature Touch ID and 3GB of RAM.
The iPhone 8 will also include lighting support rather than the rumoured USB-C, with the inclusion of fast-charging.
It is thought that Apple will be announcing its Siri home speaker device at WWDC this week. The device is expected to be designed in a similar shape to the MacBook Pro but smaller, according to Foxconn insider.
The Foxconn insider revealed that Apple is reportedly making updates to its MacBook line-up this year and is expected to add a new MacBook Pro, a better version of the 12 inch MacBook and an updated 13 inch MacBook Air.
An update of featured smart technology is also expected to be added to the MacBook in 2018. All other details released by Foxconn insider are likely to be confirmed at WWDC this week.
