NETWORK SYSTEMS WINS COMPLEMENTARY KIT TO TAKE HYPERCHANNEL TO MAC, PS/2

By CBR Staff Writer

Network Systems Corp, Excelan Inc, and Wellfleet Communications Inc have announced a strategic venture covering a number of the companies’ networking products. Under the agreement – announced at the Communications Network ’89 Show – Network Systems, based in Minneapolis, Minnesota will market under its own name products manufactured by Excelan and Wellfleet; the products will be sold and serviced by Network Systems as the LAN II product line. The companies claim Excelan’s and Wellfleet’s products complement Network Systems’ main networking product, the high-speed Hyperchannel-DX. The products from San Jose, California-based Excelan, give Network Systems its first offerings for Macintosh and PS/2 personal computers; Bedford, Massachusetts-based Wellfleet’s routers, for both wide and local area networks, add the ability to communicate with TCP/IP and DECnet communication protocols.
