Network Information System Co Ltd, which already offers value added network services between Japan and the US, has applied to the Ministry of Posts & Telecommunications to offer a service to the UK from November 20, connecting to British Telecommunications Plc via the McDonnell-Douglas Network Systems network: services will include electronic mail and packet switching, and rates are likely to be a connection rate of 19 cents a minute and 1.25 cents per packed of 64 bytes; the two largest shareholders in Network Information are trader Marubeni Corp, 35%, and McDonnell Douglas Network Systems Co, 25%.
