Value-added network services major Network Information Services Inc has signed with Cable & Wireless Plc’s Mercury Communications Ltd to provide a communication service between Japan and the UK, and will apply for approval to the Ministry of Posts & Telecommunications in the near future: the agreement follows the opening of a Japan-UK link with British Telecommunications Plc last November; charges will be based on the ones agreed with British Telecom; Network Information has already established links between Japan and the US with both McDonnell-Douglas Corp’s Tymnet and US Sprint Communications Inc’s Telenet.
