Network General Corp, the Mountain View company that suffers from adenoids, softened the market up with its study, conducted by Infonetics Inc, that found that large users need fault-tolerance in their local nets because the typical one goes down 23 times a year at an average annual cost of $3.84m, and now it has come up with its answer in the form of a rental service called Sniffer Express, which provides network users overnight access to a Sniffer network troubleshooter when local network disaster strikes: users can rent Network General’s top-of-the-line Series 500 protocol analyser, which includes support for all major protocol groups, at $1,000, which includes one hour of telephone support from Network General’s Support Services Group.
