Crawley, West Sussex-based Network Equipment Technologies Europe Ltd has launched the IDNX-Micro 20 integrated access multiplexer, said to be the only one of its kind to support digital voice traffic and provide routing and Frame Relay capabilities. Each Micro 20 includes distributed network control and intelligent routing abilities enabling, for example, automatic re-routing of calls in the most cost-effective way in the event of a facility or equipment failure; bandwidth management features are also included in the product. The firm claims the Micro 20 can be used for both public and private access, supports a wide range of trunk speeds and enables speech compression to minimise leased line costs. The company adds that, as a fully compatible member of the Network Equipment IDNX family, the Micro 20 will enable users to grow and evolve their networks by adding IDNX feature modules, for example Frame Relay or ISDN boards, and nodes when and where required. In addition to providing Frame Relay capabilities via the NET Frame Relay Exchange, and routing through the LAN/WAN Exchange, Network Equipment says that the Micro 20 will support current carrier services such as ISDN and coming things like Asynchronous Transfer Mode. The IDNX-Micro 20 is available now worldwide from the direct sales organisation and distributers. The IDNX-Micro 20 lists for from UKP5,510.
