The two companies will couple Network Appliance solutions and Kenan IP Services Software to enable service providers to bill for premium content delivery services from their networks. The combined Network Appliance and Lucent solution will automate the process of content delivery and billing, enabling service providers to create new revenue-generating services at a low total cost of ownership.
The Network Appliance Center-to-Edge solution allows service providers to distribute rich media, such as streaming media, personalized Web content, and video-on-demand, over their networks by using NetCache content delivery appliances, and ContentDirector software. In addition to managing the distribution of content, NetApp technology will also provide an option of content usage and tracking capabilities via ContentReporter software.
Lucent’s Kenan IP Services Software which includes award-winning billing, mediation, Web-based customer care, and revenue assurance software collects and manages detailed content delivery usage information and provides flexible rating and billing capabilities using a variety of parameters, such as traffic volumes, number of caches/hits, and types of content. The software enables the delivery of today’s and next generation, value-added IP services such as VoIP, IP VPN, live/on-demand streaming media, managed storage, Web hosting, advanced applications, and broadband Internet access.
