Network Appliance joined existing investors Israel Seed Partners, Benchmark Capital, Duff Ackerman & Goodrich, and Charles River Ventures in the funding round, which the company plans to use to extend its open source systems management offerings.
The Palo Alto, California-based company released its openQRM server management software on SourceForge in early 2006 and has subsequently focused its attention on the growing opportunity for managing both physical and virtual server environments.
However, there is some confusion about the company’s funding to date. Qlusters announced that it has raised approximately $23m in total VC funding since the company was founded in 2001. The company had previously announced a $16m round in April 2004 and a $6.15m round in July 2002, while it reportedly raised $1.5m in seed funding in late 2001. A company spokesperson confirmed that the total raised to date is about $34m, noting that the $23m total did not take into account the latest round.
