NetWitness has rolled out NextGen Eagle, a new portable and compact version of the its NextGen server platform. The new version enables field deployment of the company’s packet capture and session analysis technology.

NetWitness said that the new NextGen version expands its capabilities from fixed network infrastructure devices to include a mobile monitoring system to support law enforcement, incident responders, auditors, intelligence, and consulting staff for field-duty scenarios.

According to NetWitness, the new NextGen version is designed to use during field operations and exceeds existing market capabilities by: providing an footprint for Gigabit collection with 3TB of storage; supporting wireless network analysis, including WEP enabled WAPs; providing redundant engineering to deal with harsh travel environments; and supporting forensic and tactical network analysis and incident response.

Brian Girardi, director of product management at NetWitness, said: “Our community of thousands of NetWitness Investigator users demanded a portable solution to support their mission. The combination of robust enterprise analytics combined with the fly-away packaging for rapid response makes NextGen Eagle a critical must-have for any digital forensics team or law enforcement cyber crimes division.”

Previously in June, 2009, NetWitness had released InSight, an application for automated risk discovery and remediation for workstations and servers. According to the company, InSight’s combined data discovery and risk exposure analysis provide automated and reproducible metrics to security, audit and compliance staffs allowing to prioritize and mitigate risk in a cost-effective way.
