NETSPEAK WINS OEM DEAL WITH FUJITSU LTD

By CBR Staff Writer

High-flying internet telephony company NetSpeak Corp has won an OEM customer agreement from Fujitsu Ltd’s Business Communications Systems division which will see the company’s Internet Protocol- based telephony and call center technology integrated into Fujitsu’s newest generation of enterprise network systems, such as the IntelliCenter call center management system and CT IntelliServer. Fujitsu’s aim is to enable its large scale F9600 Multimedia Platform PBX networks and call centers to deliver voice traffic over the internet. It will be using NetSpeak’s recently launched server-based products and IP telephony gateways, including the WGX Gateway, and the two plan to carry out joint development work on future product enhancements. The call center market is now big business, with $2bn worth of products and services shipped in 1996, 12% up from the previous year, according to figures from the TEQConsultant Group of Hackensack, New Jersey. NetSpeak, from Boca Raton, Florida, completed a successful initial public offering last month, although it is less than two years old. It has a similar integration deal with Rockwell International Corp. Motorola Inc has an 11.6% stake in the company.
