Netscape co-founder and CTO Marc Andreessen has joined the board of directors of Replay Networks Inc. The erstwhile programmer has invested personal funds in the company. Maybe it was the product that caught his eye. Replay is about to begin shipping ReplayTV, a set-top box which automatically finds, captures and stores programs digitally for playback on-demand. This couch potato lifestyle tool works a little like a tapeless VCR, though the company hastens to point out that it’s much easier to use than the real thing. ReplayTV is about the coolest thing for consumers I have ever seen, Andreessen said in a statement. ReplayTV could do for television what Netscape did for the internet.
