Netscape Communications Corp has formed a partnership with Singapore-based internet services company SilkRoute Ventures to offer software packages that link manufacturing firms in Asia to their customers via the internet, according to Reuters. Netscape is looking to the business to business e-commerce market as a way forward in its Asian business after being pressured by Microsoft into giving away its browser software for free. Under the agreement, SilkRoute will provide comprehensive services based on Netscape’s ECXpert and PublishingXpert, core components of the CommerceXpert e-commerce product line. Singapore, Malaysia, India and Thailand are the main countries targeted for the service.
