Netscape Communications Corp is to offer new 1.5 releases of its Publishing, Merchant and Community System products with new billing, merchandising and publishing features and enhanced support for cross-platform, cross-database and legacy system support. Netscape is putting the three – collectively known as the Commercial Applications suite – through Electronic Data Systems and Andersen Consulting. New Publishing features include personalized content delivery, document conversion into HTML and support for automatic conversion of newswire feeds. New to the Merchant system for creating on-line shopping malls is support for product-related searching, coupons, discounts, audit reports and encrypted order delivery. Community includes a new chat server, bulletin board server and mail server software. All are due in the third quarter.
