Netscape Communications Corp is hoping to take advantage of having the most hit-upon web site around by linking up with Concentric Network Corp to provide web-hosting service from Netscape’s web site. Netscape will use technology from its Communicator client and SuiteSpot server software to combine with Concentric’s hosting experience to offer the server, called Netscape Virtual Office by concentric. It will enable users to establish a space on the Netscape site that can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection, but only by the trusted parties to whom the user gives authorization. Services include e- mail, discussion forums, project collaboration and credit card payments. Further down the line the two companies plan accounting packages, calendaring, conferencing, job b postings, timesheets and billing and sales automation applications. The service, which will start at the beginning of August, is likely to cost between $30 and $50 per member, plus a monthly fee, but the prices have not been revealed yet. https://home.netscape.com.
