NETMANAGE’S BABY CHAMELEON OFFERS CHEAP 3270 ACCESS

By CBR Staff Writer

NetManage Inc has released an entry-level small-footprint version of its Chameleon 3270 terminal program for use with Microsoft SNA Server and priced the new code at $100 in 100-user quantities, $150 for one. That’s a fraction of the typical $300-$400 price of SNA client software that also includes a list of functions many users never touch. Chameleon 3270LT comes with 3270 terminal emulation, 3287 printer emulation, a File Transfer Protocol client and session manager, Ping and Simple Network Management Protocol super agents. Those who later find they need functions not included can upgrade to NetManage’s Chameleon HostLink for $175 and add AS/400 and VMS/Unix connections, or to its ChameleonNFS/X for $275 to add application, file system and intranet integration with Unix boxes.
