According to NetManage, the new Host Services Platform (HSP) supports the full range of choices that line of business and IT managers might require when designing and implementing host-based accessibility and transformation projects.
These choices include delivery channels for an application (desktop, PDA and other client types); the range of publishing methods such as PC-to-host, HTML-to-host, and object-to-host; and the full spectrum of host systems that might be accessed (IBM mainframes, IBM and Unix-based servers, and ODBC-based databases).
HSP enables users to implement business initiatives of varying degrees of complexity – from simple green screen emulations to complex composite applications, NetManage said. Customers can reuse and integrate applications and data running on host systems into new initiatives without interrupting their existing business processes.
HSP provides graphical tools for developing applications and services for SOAs, including generating web services, .Net assemblies, EJBs, and other object types for consumption by new business applications.
NetManage claims to have over 10,000 customers including 480 of the Fortune 500, but it has fallen on hard times of late. In its first quarter ended March 31 the company posted sales of $11.9m, down around 16% year on year, and a net loss of $0.43m.
