The combination of NetLogic’s Layer 7 knowledge-based processors for high-speed layer 7 classification and BroadWeb’s accurate Layer7+-ID signatures for application identification enable OEMs to reduce the time-to-market for application-aware networking equipment.
The new hardware-accelerated application-aware management suite provides classification and analysis of traffic at the application level, enabling wire-speed application identification and management for networking equipment.
The new application management suite, used by mobile wireless infrastructure and networking OEMs, can classify, monitor and manage networking sessions based on the applications which use the network. It can enable operators to make use of available network resources, to deploy tiered service plans, to enhance ROI, to reduce security threats on the network and mobile devices as well.
Terence Liu, CEO of BroadWeb, said: “Wire-speed application-aware functions are being designed into a wide range of points in the network. NetLogic Microsystems’ powerful NETL7 Layer 7 knowledge-based processors give us the necessary processing throughput to perform Layer 7 packet identification and application management at wire-rate, and provide the necessary functionality to easily support our Threat-ID and Layer7+-ID capabilities.”
