NetLogic Microsystems, a provider of semiconductor offerings, has released XLP8128S multi-core communications processor offering that integrates 128 nxCPUs and over 160 programmable processing engines.

The company said that its new offering integrates the XLP processor architecture that provides scalability upto 128 nxCPUs, each operating at up to 2.0 GHz. It offers 160Gbps throughput and 240 million packets-per-second of intelligent application performance for 3G/4G mobile wireless infrastructure, enterprise, storage, security, metro Ethernet, edge and core infrastructure network applications.

NetLogic Microsystems said that its XLP8128S offering features Enhanced Fast Messaging Network that enables bandwidth communication among the 128 nxCPUs and supports in-flight messages and packet descriptors between all on-chip elements.

The XLP8128S offering also incorporates 16 channels of 72-bit DDR3 interconnects yielding an aggregate of over 1600 Gbps of off-chip memory bandwidth and offers a tri-level cache architecture with over 50 Mbytes of coherent on-chip cache which delivers 40 Terabits/sec of on-chip memory bandwidth.

Behrooz Abdi, executive vice president and general manager at NetLogic Microsystems, said: "Our ability to scale to 128 nxCPUs with full cache and memory coherency to deliver 160Gbps throughput and over 240Mpps of application performance is unprecedented in the industry, and enables a new class of equipment for our customers."
