Netgear has launched two new routers for connecting to 3G/4G/WiMAX cellular networks. The 3G/4G Mobile Broadband Wireless-N router (MBRN3000) combines 802.11n wireless with connectivity to a cellular network through an external 3G/4G/WiMAX modem and the second router is a Wireless-N 300 router with DSL modem Mobile Broadband Edition (DGN2200M).
The Wireless-N 300 router combines 802.11n wireless and supports 3G/4G/WiMAX cellular connectivity, and also includes a built-in ADSL2+ modem. It offers a dual wide area network option for a failover 3G/4G/WiMAX internet connection. Both the routers can be used as a primary internet connection in situations where no connection to a DSL, cable, fiber, or satellite network exists, the company said.
The company said customers will be able to set up a fixed or mobile Wi-Fi hotspot anywhere, with the ability to share a single cellular subscription with multiple Wi-Fi enabled devices such as a PC, iPhone, iPod Touch, PSP, by plugging an external 3G/4G/WiMAX modem into the new routers.
According to Netgear, the new mobile broadband routers features auto-detection capabilities; live parental controls and content filtering powered by OpenDNS; stateful packet inspection, VPN pass-through and denial of service protection; guest networks (multiple SSID) capability; automatic quality of service (QoS); broadband usage meter; push ‘n’ connect with Wi-Fi protected setup (WPS); a sleek casing with LED indicators that can be viewed at any 180-degree angle.
In addition, the 3G/4G Mobile Broadband Wireless-N Router (MBRN3000) unites 802.11n wireless and provides access to cellular networks therough an external 3G/4G/WiMAX USB modem. It offers features that are nearly identical to those of Wireless-N Router with DSL Modem (DGN2200M), but does not have an integrated DSL modem, the company added.
