NetFrame Systems Inc, Sunnyvale, California and ThunderWave Inc, Rockville, Maryland have announced a technology alliance designed to meet the needs of the enterprise-level networked multimedia market, as reported briefly (CI No 2,407). The two companies are aiming to provide customisable systems for customers worldwide. The demonstration features a video wall supporting 44 independent data streams driven from a single NetFrame clustered network server. The application, which was developed by ThunderWave, is claimed to enable almost unlimited access to huge digitised databases which reside on disk arrays within the NetFrame server, according to the company. The companies reckon that what they have is the next logical step to the current analogue videodisk and tape implementations for corporate environments, training and education centres. The technology can handle video of any length, limited only by the amount of disk storage.
