NetFrame Systems Inc of Milpitas, California has added to its mid-range server ClusterServer 8000 family, with three systems making up the new ClusterServer 8400 series. Each model features dual Pentium processor clusters, expandable to nine processor clusters and is aimed at mid-sized companies with expanding departmental applications. The series provides input-output transaction rollback and recovery for transient input-output errors. NetFrame has also upgraded its 8500, calling it the 8540, offering a new base configuration, expanding it to a 12-processor cluster with up to four 100MHz Pentium-based processor modules configurable for symmetric multiprocessing modes. Prices for the 8400 start at $25,000; the 8540 starts at $67,000.
