Netflix introduces personalised profile feature

Each Netflix account allows up to five profiles.

By CBR Staff Writer

Streaming video service Netflix has introduced a new feature in an effort to be more interactive with its subscribers.

Its new personalised profile feature – launched on August 1 – can be created by different users of the same family, allowing each of them to have a personalised experience.

This feature tracks each viewer’s individual watching habits, based on the recommendations Netflix sends them.

Each Netflix account allows up to five profiles, which can be connected to different Facebook accounts.

Netflix chief product officer Neil Hunt said they are striving to provide a more personal experience.

"Now everyone in your home can have their own Netflix experience, built around the TV shows and movies they enjoy. No longer will your Netflix suggestions be mixed up with those of your kids, a significant other, roommates, or house guests," said Hunt.

The feature will be made available to all members of Netflix within two weeks

Presently, users can access their profiles on the Netflix website, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, iPad, iPhone, Apple TV and smart TVs.

They will be added to other devices over the coming months.
