NETCOM AWARDED A SUPPLY CONTRACT BY NTT

By CBR Staff Writer

An Australian company, Netcom Pty Ltd of Sydney has been awarded a supply contract by Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corp for modems: the contract is worth $2.8m, covering the delivery of 6,000 of the 2,400 bps dial-up modems over two years; Netcom was founded in 1982 as a specialist modem maker, and has 960 employees in four Aussie locations; it won the order from NTT by agreeing to alter its products to conform to NTT specifications a singular coup because up to now, NTT has bought modems only from Toshiba and Hitachi.
