NetChannel Inc, the television-over-the-internet service provider has closed its third round of funding, wh9ich started with the company’s acquisition of rival ViewCall America in April. The South San Francisco company said the funding exceeded its expectations but wouldn’t say how much was raised. The list of new investors has a distinctly international flavor. They are Media Technology Ventures and Technology partners of the US; International Publishing Holdings of the Netherlands; Mercator Investments Ltd of Canada; Prelude Technology Investments Ltd. of the UK; and Telenor Venture of Norway. AVI Capital and Technology Funding, also of the US, invested for the second time, along with chief executive Philip Monego and Hermann Hauser, co-founder of Acorn Computers Ltd and NetChannel board member. The NetChannel service will be available later this summer through set-top boxes manufactured by Thomson Consumer Electronics under the RCA brand and NetProducts in the UK.
