Shares in UK voice telephony company Netcall Plc leapt 18.8% to 65 pence yesterday after the company announced an unspecified but significant increase in sales activity since the start of the new financial year. The Birmingham, UK-based company, which uses Lernout & Hauspie’s speech engine, sees its core skill as delivery and control of telephony tools. It has developed a range of products including applications that can alert mobile phone users that they have email with the option either of listening to it being read out or having it forwarded to a nominated fax machine.
Netcall also expects its Belgium joint venture company Netcall Benelux to earn $300,000 in its first year with its Asset Minder system that enables customers to track the delivery and maintenance of equipment using voice response telephony running on its infrastructure.
The company is currently setting up sales channels in the US market and chief executive David Rothschild says the current year will see a marked increase in revenue.
