Irish number two carrier Esat Telecom Group Plc has taken the net access PC package to Ireland, with the launch of its Surf PC scheme, under which customers pay a monthly fee for an IBM Corp PC bundled with EsatÆs consumer internet offering. The bundle is the third time Esat has jumped to offer the latest trend in net access schemes this year, following the subscription-free Surf Free, and the subscription-based off-peak unmetered dialup offering Surf NoLimits.

Customers signing up to Surf PC get a 466MHz Intel Celeron PC, 8.4Gb hard drive, 32Mb RAM, with the usual suite of Lotus applications. Unlike some other offerings, this one comes with all peripherals, such as monitor and keyboard, as well as free delivery and one year warranty. A subscription to EsatÆs free ISP is included, with 10 hours of free dialup phone calls per month. Buyers will pay a total of 1,187 punts ($1,567) over 36 monthly payments of 32.99 punts ($44).
