Freshly-launched Campsix Inc claims to be the first internet incubator to address the particular needs of net entrepreneurs in San Francisco. The company intends to set new standards for net business incubation by providing its portfolio companies with access to professional services and on-premises mentoring, as well as seed capital, infrastructure and office space.

Campsix has renovated a 22,000 square foot space in San Francisco’s South of Market district and is at work incubating its first company, College411. The idea is to nurture promising companies that have exhausted their initial funding but have not yet grown large enough to attract the attention of a Kleiner Perkins or a Sequoia. Campsix is bridging the gap between angel investors and venture capitalists, explained Aberdeen Group senior analyst, Lara Abrams.
