Cognos 8 is being rolled put globally across Nestle’s operations to better monitor, analyze and track its products’ performance. The global move follows a brief pilot implementation of Cognos’ technology in various countries.

Cognos’ BI software will allow users to merge external data from any source with data from SAP BW and serve-up, ad hoc or pre-formatted and easily printable reports to end users.

Tight integration with SAP BW, which Nestle deployed as a global standard for data warehousing, was one of the deciding factors in choosing Cognos 8, Ottawa-based Cognos said.

Even though financial specifics of the deal have not been disclosed, it is just the type of global standardization deal that Cognos CEO Rob Ashe is looking for to spur new license revenue growth.
