Following an outage on Saturday, Nest‘s smart home products including smoke alarms, thermostats and camera monitoring systems are back online and functioning.
A software bug caused the battery to drain and ultimately shut off.
Recently, the makers added new features to the system that allows the thermostat to automatically adapt to the changing season with a week of using it.
The thermostat also includes a new feature named ‘Farsight’, which lights up the device to show the temperature that has been set.
Gizmodo cited a Nest spokesperson as saying: "We are aware of a low-battery issue impacting some Nest Thermostat owners. In some cases, this may cause the device to respond slowly or become unresponsive.
"We are actively investigating the issue and working on a solution. In the meantime, performing a manual restart of the thermostat will help until a fix is put in place."
Users took to social media to vent their anger against the product which also questioned the reliability of internet connected devices at the time of need, especially when several states in the US are experiencing frigid temperatures.
