NEI, a provider of application platforms and lifecycle support services, said that it has integrated essential technology from Kontron, a provider of embedded and communications offerings, to develop a high-density frame with superior computing power and storage to serve the LTE and mobile messaging markets.
According to NEI, the new frame integrates 12 of the company’s N-1500 R2 carrier-grade rack mount servers that support -48V DC power management and alarming, high density storage arrays; and standard Cisco switches to create an offering that combines high performance, ruggedness, reliability and long life.
The company claims that it has piloted the integrated offering through NEBS Level 3 testing to achieve compliance at the frame level and the resulting offering reduces engineering overhead and accelerates customer’s time to market.
Jeff Hudgins, vice president of marketing at NEI, said: "The integration of advanced server technologies, such as those provided by Kontron, is absolutely vital to the wireless and mobile telecommunications market.
"Achieving NEBS certification for a high-density rack solution is considered a real breakthrough for carrier-class equipment. This market is about hitting the opportunity window while it’s open, and NEI’s solution design and quality-based integration control services enable large, brand-name telecommunications equipment providers (TEMs) to accelerate development schedules, meet customer requirements and more rapidly reach revenue."
