NEC,SUMITOMO, PLANNER SYSTEMS JOINTLY DEVELOP LIABILITIES MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

By CBR Staff Writer

NEC Corp, Sumitomo Bank and software house Planner Systems have jointly developed a personal computer-based Asset and Liabilities Management system which they have already sold to 16 commercial banks including the Kyowa and Saitama Banks: the system runs on the NEC 5200 series of micros, which have the same power as on a office computer, and costs around $97,000; with the increasing international investment on the part of Japanese institutions, a system was needed for management of financial risks; NEC is also developing a low cost hand-written cheque reader.
