The NEC V40 and V50 microprocessors – highly integrated versions of the V20 and V30, and similar to Intel’s 80188 and 80186 – are now available in the UK from Impulse Electronics, Caterham, Surrey: they add serial async input-output, wait state controller, refresh controller, four independent direct memory access channels, bus controller, three counter-timer channels and an interrupt controller, and come in 8MHz or 10MHz versions; no prices given.
