NEC UK Ltd has extended to two years the standard warranty period offered for all its Winchester disk drive products: the new warranty applies to all Winchester products invoiced by NEC (UK) from January 1 and will be at no extra cost to the customer; under the new guarantee, if a drive should fail the complete subsystem will be automatically covered for a further six months following any repair work, and this will be irrespective of expiry date of the original 12-month warranty.
