NEC TO MAKE FACSIMILE MACHINES AT UK PLANT

NEC Corp is to start making facsimile machines at its Telford, UK plant from next June to become the first Japanese manufacturer to make fax machines in Europe: the move is expected to spur Matsushita and Canon to follow suit: NEC plans to start at a rate of 2,000 units per month, with key parts such as modems from Japan; a phenomenal 1.2m fax machines were made in 1986, up 42.5% over 1985.
